Floating LNG-to-Power for AI Data Centres

AI compute needs firm power, cooling and speed that the grid cannot give it. Demand arrives faster than transmission can be built, and the sites with the best fibre are rarely the sites with the best power.

Floating LNG-to-power plants answer all three constraints at once. The plant is built in a shipyard rather than on a contested site, towed to location, and uses the sea itself as a heat sink — removing the freshwater cooling problem that dogs inland data centres.

MIG and Blue Sea Power are working on floating barge configurations designed specifically for AI compute. This paper sets out the technical configuration, the siting logic and the delivery timeline against conventional alternatives.
